Roamly Roamly itinerary

Day 1

  • 08:00

    Coffee at Perc

“Before the Collins Quarter queue exists. Two blocks away and nobody there at eight.”

  • 09:00

    Forsyth Park

“Start here. Everything else is north of it and you will walk it four times.”

  • 10:30

    Owens-Thomas House

“Book the first slot. The tour covers the slave quarters properly and does not soften it.”

  • 12:30

    Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room

“Queue was round the block by 11. You have to commit to this at 10:30 or not at all.”

    skipped
  • 13:00

    Zunzi's

“The Conquistador, taken to Chippewa Square. Better than the thing we queued for and did not get.”

  • 15:00

    Walk Bull Street north

“Chippewa, Wright, Johnson. Twenty minutes and it is the best twenty minutes here.”

  • 17:00

    Nap

“September and still 90 degrees. Build this in or you will fade by seven.”

  • 19:30

    The Grey

“Book three weeks out. If you did not, the bar takes walk-ins at five and it is the better seat anyway.”

  • The Marshall House

“Creaky, central, and the porch is worth more than the room.”

Day 2

  • 08:30

    Collins Quarter

“The lavender mocha deserves the fuss. Go at 8:30 and you walk straight in.”

  • 10:00

    Bonaventure Cemetery

“Opening time or not at all. By eleven it is hot and full of tour groups.”

  • 12:00

    Fabrika

“Coffee and a long sit after the cemetery. Nobody moves you along.”

  • 13:30

    The Wyld Dock Bar

“Out on the marsh, twenty minutes from town. Ask for a table on the deck and stay two hours.”

  • 16:30

Wormsloe Historic Site → Walked Jones Street instead, which is free and prettier.

“Would have been a third drive. Walked Jones Street instead, which is free and prettier.”

    swapped
  • 18:00

    Artillery

“No phones, which sounds precious and is the entire reason it is pleasant.”

  • 20:00

    Cotton & Rye

“Out of the historic district. Quieter, cheaper, and the best meal of the four days.”

  • The Marshall House

Day 3

  • 09:00

    Clary's Cafe

“A diner, not a destination, which on day three is exactly right.”

  • 10:30

    Telfair Academy

“An hour. Small, well-chosen, and the Bird Girl is here, not in the cemetery where everyone looks.”

  • 12:00

    Jepson Center

“Same ticket as the Telfair. Modern, and a good argument against it.”

  • 13:30

    Green Truck Pub

“Burgers, local beer, no queue. Worth the walk out to Habersham.”

  • 15:30

    Leopold's

“Honey almond and cream. The line looks worse than it is, it moves.”

  • 17:00

    River Street

“Once, for twenty minutes, so you can say you did. The cobbles are brutal in the wrong shoes.”

  • 19:30

    The Olde Pink House

“Tavern downstairs, not the dining room. Same kitchen, half the ceremony, no booking needed.”

  • 22:00

    Alley Cat Lounge

“Underground, menu like a newspaper. Hand it back and let them choose.”

  • The Marshall House

Day 4

  • 08:30

    Collins Quarter

“Third visit. That is the review.”

  • 10:00

Walk the squares we had missed

“Troup, Whitefield, Calhoun. Nobody there and the same trees.”

  • 12:00

    Zunzi's

“Also third visit. No defence offered.”

  • 13:30

    Forsyth Park

“Finished where we started, which was not planned and felt right.”
